Welcome to HAZARD-Tech!
HAZARD-Tech is a free, public resource for hazard-oriented professionals, including mitigation planners, emergency managers, hazard scientists and engineers, geospatial technologists, and others.
The purpose of this Site is to provide an interactive environment that fosters learning and communicating. There is particular focus on exposing the technologies (tools) that support hazard management disciplines, and providing information in support of those tools.
Because hazards occur someplace on earth, and thus in the context of geography, there is special emphasis on "spatially-oriented" tools, including geographic information systems (GIS) and other mapping-related technologies. Additionally, much of the information provided on the site is specific to Texas.

HAZARD-Tech is made possible by a FEMA grant. It is a project from the Texas Geographic Society, a 501c3 non-profit, and a sub-grantee to the State of Texas Governor's Division of Emergency Management (GDEM).
