Welcome to HAZARD-Tech!

HAZARD-Tech is a free, public resource for hazard-oriented professionals, including mitigation planners, emergency managers, hazard scientists and engineers, geospatial technologists, and others.

The purpose of this Site is to provide an interactive environment that fosters learning and communicating. There is particular focus on exposing the technologies (tools) that support hazard management disciplines, and providing information in support of those tools.

Because hazards occur someplace on earth, and thus in the context of geography, there is special emphasis on "spatially-oriented" tools, including geographic information systems (GIS) and other mapping-related technologies. Additionally, much of the information provided on the site is specific to Texas.

HAZARD-Tech Users can benefit from this Site by:

• Reading and learning about the technologies (tools) available to assist in their work
• Using the tools and becoming more technically savvy through a variety of resources including:
  
  • Training, User Support Contacts, User Forums, Self-Assessment Quizzes, FAQ’s, Demos/Videos, and more
• Registering for a training course or seminar
• Asking questions and getting answers and advice from experts and colleagues in that knowledge area
• Contributing your knowledge and/or content to add to the Site
• Submitting case studies in a knowledge area to share with others
  
  • Case Studies (and your organization and staff) will be highlighted on the Home Page
• Getting to know other professionals, making contact with them, networking and coordination
